Organic Columbian Coffee in Compostable Packaging
This delicious organic certified coffee is shade grown under walnut trees, avocados, fruit trees and native species in the mountainous region of Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta. This region, on the north coast of Columbia, is the highest coastal mountain range in the world, with coffee growing at altitudes between 1100 and 1600 metres above sea level.
We are proud to sell coffee that has been grown by members of the progressive Asprosierra co-operative. This association is made up of 32 small producers of whom a third are women. They have strictly implemented sustainable farming practices to protect natural ecosystems and the water sources of Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta.
The care and effort put into the cultivation of this speciality coffee can be tasted in the final cup. We fell in love with its mellow easy drinking nature. A medium body and low to medium acidity with flavour notes of tropical fruit and chocolate that meld into a burnt sugar and caramel finish.
We are pleased to present this organic coffee to you in environmentally friendly packaging. Both the coffee and postal bag are fully compostable.
More about Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta.
Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta is one of Colombia’s most ecologically rich natural areas. Not only does it supply water to the rest of the country but in 1979 it was designated a Biosphere reserve by UNESCO. A 2013 report by the International Union for Conservation of Nature highlighted the unique ecosystem of the area, naming Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta the hardest to replicate habitat in the world. Organic farming, alongside careful environmental stewardship, protects this ecological treasure for future generations.

· Guaranteeing that the members receive a fair price for their coffee
All our coffee is vacuum packed in a protective atmosphere to maintain optimal flavour and freshness.
Which grind should you choose
Grind at home coffee to ensure the freshest coffee possible, nothing compares to a freshly ground bean. It also means that you can experiment with grinding beans more coarsely or finely for different brewing methods. Buy this coffee if you have a home grinder.
